The Apostle whom Jesus loved so much wrote this in one of the epistles; "We love because He first loved us". So, love is reciprocal. If our heavenly Father has not loved us, there will be no template for us to love Him and others. So, don't wait for others (your spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, fiance or friend) to first love you; create a template for them to love you by first showing them love and care.
No one rejects love. Everyone wants to be loved and accepted, because we all long for acceptance. Love boosts one's confidence. Love prolongs life. It produces acceptance and care. Don't withhold this powerful weapon in the face of disagreement. Don't be overcome by hatred or malice; rather, overcome with love. There is no river, love cannot cross. There is no mountain, love cannot climb. There is no wall, love cannot pass through. Nothing can hinder the manifestation of this great virtue. Don't be shameful in showing love to others; because, it's foolishness to be shameful of what is gainful.
Remember, whatever you want others to do to you, first take the initiative and do it to them. So, in this new year, be the first in meeting the needs of others; don't wait for them to first meet your needs. Be the first in meeting the needs of your spouse, friends, finance or relatives. Be the first in giving to that poor person you know. Be proactive in your giving; because it's one of the expressions of love. You can't love and not give. By doing this, you will teach people how to love and you will see them reciprocating the same gesture.
